On the eigth day...

Following on from a story about a church giving away iPods to draw new members, we've decided to have a brain storm and see if there's a section in the bible to reflect the holyness of this.

There isn't, so we thought we'd write our own...
The Book of Jobs

1-1: And on the eigth day, God invented AAC and lo, it was OK.
1-2: And lo, Jesus did recruit his disciples with the promise of everlasting
techie gadgets.
1-3: And the disciples cared not about their afterlife for they had the ability
to listen to over 3000 tunes.
1-4: Many with pictures.
1-5: And they danced.
1-6: Although the non believers were unable to sync their sony media
players.
1-7: And they were vengeful.
1-8: So they cracked open the skulls of the holy and feasted upon their
brains.
1-9: And they starved

We cleary care for these poor souls being taught to covet materialism.

Cyclic Quicksand

Further to one of our previous posts (and ensuing discussion), I've found a nice article that touches on the subject of the anthropic principle while discussing a cyclic universe. The ideas regarding the cyclic universe are pretty out there, but the rebuff of the AP is nice and clear: "Relying on the anthropic principle is like stepping on quicksand".

I couldn't have put it better myself

"Religion needs science to keep it away from superstition and keep it close to reality, to protect it from creationism".

Wow. That's a pretty strong statement and it's coming from a Vatican astronomer. Read the full article here.
